Getting my ducks in a row

Right now I'm in my mid 20's, have some debt and don't have good health insurance. So I figured since I'm pretty sure I've got a few years before I need to start worrying about possible fertility issues, I have the time to get a few ducks in a row before I start trying to get pregnant. I figure that if I work hard, I'll get everything done by the end of 2016 and I'll start trying to get pregnant by 2017. (I'll be 28-29 years old then)

  1. Get all dental work done:

This is the first thing I thought of when I was wondering what I needed to do to prepare to get pregnant. I've got some really bad teeth and while I'm doing better at taking care of my teeth I still need some major work done on them.

  1. Open business

I've had a dream of opening a business since I was a kid. I'm a decent crafter and would love to make things to sell. As long as I'm not losing money over it, I'm fine with having a small business.

  1. Become an Avon Rep

For some reason I've always wanted to be an Avon rep, I don't really even know why but I figure I'll try it out for a while, it'll be a nice story “When I was an Avon rep.....”

  1. Get my own place with room for a child or three.

I've always wanted more then one child, that's why I'm getting started so early with children. I don't want my child to be an only child.

  1. Move out of TN

I REALLY don't like TN. Like, I REALLY don't like it. I don't even know why, it's a decent state it just doesn’t do anything for me.

  1. Pay off debt.

Thankfully I only have about 3,000 left, but I do want to get it all paid off by the time I start getting pregnant.

  1. Get novel fully written.

I've been writing the same novel since 2009. Time to get it done.

  1. Find Support network (interest groups)

This single mom thing is going to be hard I know. But I know that I can do it if I have support. Once I move out of TN, I'll join knitting groups and a writing group and if I can, a scrapbooking group. I may even sign up for cooking lessons since I enjoy it but aren't that good.

  1. Knit Baby set

So I knit. (very 1920's I know) and I've always wanted my child(ren) to have hand knit clothes to wear, I have a document of knitting patterns I like that I'll make for my children to wear. Since I've got a few years before I start trying to get pregnant I figure I can make a few things here and there, and set them aside so I don't have to do the bulk of the knitting while TTC or preggo.

  1. Finish classes online

I hate school. Like really hate it. I hate it almost as much as I hate living in TN. But I do learn pretty well in an online class, so I've got a few classes (about 3 per semester) that I want to finish before I start TTC.

Single Mother by Choice

This is where I'm documenting the path I'm going to take to become a single mother. Although I'm only in my mid 20's I've given up on guys pretty much.  Chances are until I get pregnant, I won't say no to guys if they ask me out, but I don't want to be in any more relationships.  I'm tired of guys cheating on me, I'm tired of guys not fighting for me, I'm tired of guys wanting me to do all the work in the relationship. But I still want to be a mom.  So I'll just do it without them.

I've been dancing back and forth for a couple of months about whether or not to do this, but I finally sat down and came up with a few names I like (boy and girl) and a list of 10 things that I'll achieve (or be nearly done with) by the time I start trying to get pregnant.

I remember that I first started thinking about trying to get pregnant and be a single mom on my own in May of 2010, so nearly 4 full years have passed, let's see if I can't get further on my SMC path in the next four years, shall we?
